Description:
The Solomon Islands aims to enhance economic benefits from its tuna resources by developing a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project at Bina Harbour, Malaita, involving onshore tuna processing and supporting infrastructure. The project seeks to capture more value locally, generate employment, and stimulate regional development through a new international port and township.IFC is the lead transaction advisor for the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, which is leading the project for the Solomon Islands Government (SIG). IFC is engaging the services of a technical consultant to assist in preparing the business case for the project. Drawing primarily on technical inputs provided by IFC, and by the New Zealand MFAT-funded Bina Harbour Project Office, the technical consultant will synthesize existing data to prepare a business case to be used by SIG in its discussions with potential sovereign financing partners and other stakeholders. As part of its work the technical consultant will prepare an economic analysis of the project and develop options for operation and management of enabling infrastructure.
